FILMMAKING: Branded Content
Age group: Teens/Seniors (Grades 7-12)
Class Size: 14 max
A 2-Day Filmmaking Workshop with Greta Nash
Did you know Australia spends almost $6 billion a year on video advertising? From big-budget TV commercials to branded social content, there's a whole world of filmmaking beyond movies and television.
From the ads we see on TV to the branded content filling our social feeds, commercial filmmaking is a huge part of the screen industry. But creating a great commercial takes more than just pointing a camera at a product. It's about telling a story, capturing attention and making an audience feel something, all while delivering on a client's brief.
Across two action-packed days, young filmmakers will step into the world of advertising and branded content with industry filmmaker Greta Nash, learning how to approach a commercial shoot from concept to camera.
Working in small production teams, students will be given a creative brief and challenged to develop, plan and shoot their very own commercial. They'll explore how to make a product the star, create a visual identity, consider their target audience and balance their own creative ideas with the needs of a client.
From brainstorming concepts and planning shots to directing, lighting and filming, students will experience the creative and collaborative process behind bringing a commercial to life.
A fun, hands-on introduction to a different side of filmmaking, where creativity meets commercial storytelling.
Open to both new and returning YAS Studio students in Grades 7–12.
