ACTING: CASTING DIRECTOR WORKSHOP

  • YAS Studio 90 Stubbs Street Kensington, VIC, 3031 Australia (map)

ACTING: Casting workshop with Amy Mete

Age group: Teens/Seniors (Grades 7-12)
Class Size: 12 max

Step into the audition room and experience what the casting process is really like.

In this two-day intensive, students will work closely with Casting Director Amy Mete to gain practical insight into the world of screen auditions and professional casting processes for film, television and commercials.

Ahead of the workshop, students will receive a selection of scenes and be asked to choose and prepare one that resonates with them. Across the two days, they will present their work, receive personalised feedback and refine their performances through adjustments and direction.

Day 1 will include a Q&A and industry discussion exploring the realities of casting, audition etiquette, preparation techniques and what casting directors are truly looking for in the room. Students will then workshop their prepared scenes on camera, and receive direction from Amy.

On Day 2, students will return to perform the same scenes again, incorporating the notes and adjustments developed throughout the workshop. In the afternoon, the experience shifts into a mock television commercial casting process, where students will receive a TVC script and work through the fast-paced demands of commercial auditions in a supportive industry-style environment.

Designed for passionate young actors wanting deeper insight into the screen industry, this workshop offers an opportunity to receive direct feedback from an experienced casting professional while developing stronger audition technique, adaptability and confidence on camera.
