ACTING: Auditions & Self-Tapes
Age group: Juniors (Grades 3-6)
Class Size: 12 max
For young actors beginning to audition, or preparing to take that next step, learning how to create a strong self-tape is an essential skill.
In this two-day intensive, students will experience the audition process from preparation through to performance. Five days before the workshop, each student will receive a scene to prepare independently, just as they would for a real screen audition. On Day 1, they will perform their scene on camera and receive personalised feedback from professional actor and YAS Studio founder Daniel Fischer.
Students will then spend time refining their work, applying notes and deepening their understanding of the character, script and story before returning on Day 2 to perform the scene again. Through this process, they will gain valuable insight into how professional actors prepare auditions, respond to feedback and continually develop their performances.
Alongside practical scene work, students will explore audition etiquette, script analysis, self-tape techniques and how to create confident, truthful performances on camera. They will learn that a great self-tape is about far more than memorising lines, it’s about preparation, storytelling, imagination and bringing a character to life within a short amount of time.
Designed for young actors with some prior acting experience who are interested in pursuing screen opportunities, this workshop provides a supportive introduction to the professional audition process while helping students build confidence, independence and stronger on-camera performance skills.
