ANIMATION: Make it Move!

Age Group: Juniors (Grades 3-6)
Class Size: 12 max

What happens when a drawing suddenly comes to life?

In this exciting two-day animation workshop, young creatives will explore the magic of movement as they design their own original character and learn how animators create personality, emotion and energy through motion. Guided by animator Oscar Ramos, students will discover how even the smallest movement can completely transform a character on screen.

Across the two days, students will begin by creating and refining a simple animated character before learning how to reference real movement and animate their character performing a dance sequence. Through hands-on creative exercises, they’ll explore the foundations of animation including timing, movement, expression and character acting — while experimenting with how different personalities move, react and express emotion.

Designed especially for juniors, this workshop encourages imagination, observation and playful experimentation while introducing students to core animation principles used across film, television and games. Whether they already love drawing or are brand new to animation, students will leave with a deeper understanding of how animators bring characters to life frame by frame.
