Choosing Term 1 at YAS
A guide for parents who are still deciding
If you’re feeling unsure about what’s right for your child this year, you’re not alone.
Many of the families we speak to aren’t looking for “the perfect class.” They’re simply looking for a place where their child can explore creativity, feel supported, and try something new without pressure.
This page is here to help you decide whether YAS Studio feels like the right fit for your child, right now.
IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE 100% SURE
Choosing a new activity, especially one that involves creativity, can feel like a big decision.
We regularly speak with parents who ask:
“What if my child isn’t sure yet?”
“What if they love one area, but not another?”
“What if this feels like the wrong choice once term starts?”
Those questions are completely normal.
That’s why YAS Studio is designed to give young people room to explore, not to lock them into a single path before they’re ready.
WHO TERM 1 AT YAS WORKS WELL FOR
Term 1 at YAS Studio is a great fit for:
Young people who are curious about acting, filmmaking, animation or photography
Those who discovered a love of performing or storytelling through a school production or just want to give it a go for the first time to build confidence
Kids and teens who may have tried drama before and are ready for more technical, skill-based learning
Young people who love drawing, sketching or making movies on their devices, and now want to learn the skills to take it to the next level
The selfie takers or the landscape lovers who are constantly taking photos, but don’t really know how to capture the best possible image
Creatives who want to try more than one discipline across the year
Parents looking for a space with small classes and experienced industry teachers
You don’t need previous experience. You also don’t need a long-term plan.
Term 1 is simply about starting.
WHAT IF IT’S NOT THE RIGHT FIT?
This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and an important one.
YAS Studio operates on a term-by-term basis. That means:
You’re not locked into a year-long commitment
Students can switch disciplines in future terms
Our team works closely with families to place students thoughtfully during the application process
Submitting an application doesn’t mean your child must already have everything figured out.
It helps us understand where they’re at, and how we can best support them.
WHAT PARENTS HAVE TOLD US
“I’m excited that there is finally a place where both my kids can explore their creative interests.”
— Parent of Junior students
“My daughter is excited to continue acting, but also combine that with her love of filmmaking.”
— Parent of a Senior student
“After a year of confidence-building drama classes, my child was ready for real technique, and loved that animation was an option too.”
— Parent of a Teen student
We’ve had so many generous conversations with parents over the past few months, hearing about their children, their hesitations, and their hopes.
Those conversations are at the heart of how YAS Studio has been built, and has allowed us to personally connect with the families that will be part of our creative community.
WHAT THE APPLICATION IS (AND ISN’T)
Submitting an application is the first step for us to get to know a bit more about your child. Once we receive that application, Daniel (YAS founder) will call you within 2 business days to have a chat. The purpose of the call is to:
Open a conversation with Daniel so he can answer any questions you might have and help you decide what might be best for term 1
Helps us get to know a bit more about your child and what they want out of this experience, so that we can recommend the most suitable class
Allows us to offer guidance before enrolment
The application is not a final commitment.
If you still have questions, we encourage you to reach out, we’re always happy to chat.
