ANIMATION: CHARACTER CREATION CRASH COURSE

Age Group: Teens/Seniors (Grades 7-12)
Class Size: 10 max

Bring your characters to life.

In this two-day animation workshop, students will dive into the exciting process of creating original characters from concept to finished design. Guided by YAS Teacher Oscar Ramos, students will work from a character design brief, exploring how animators develop ideas and transform them into strong, expressive characters ready for the screen.

Combining technical drawing skills with creative exploration, students will experiment with line, shape, perspective and value while learning how professional animators build characters that feel dynamic, believable and full of personality.

This workshop is perfect for new students who want to experience our animation program and prepare for Term 2 classes, as well as current YAS animation students wanting to refine their skills

Across the two days, students will sketch, refine and develop their characters through an industry-style creative process, from initial ideas and rough concepts to polished designs.

By the end of the workshop, students will walk away with stronger drawing skills, a deeper understanding of character design, and a unique character they’ve created themselves.
